2nd Anniversary

Today is our Wedding Anniversary. All three of us are feeling under the weather--Jeffy the most--so we're postponing celebrations till we feel better. More to come later.

Mommy Was Brave!

I was reading online that a fun developmental help for your kids is to let them try to feed themselves food that's not necessarily finger friendly. I guess this lets them work on fine motor skills and learn about textures and colors. I was feeling brave, so I thought "why not?" I stripped the boy down (skin is easier to clean than clothes) and set him in his chair. I plopped down a few spoonfuls of yogurt and let him go at it. Here are the results.

Jeffy Meets Toby

I got to go hang out with my friend, Amanda, (also known as Kris) and her baby, Toby, last week. Toby and Jeffy were born just a few weeks apart, and I'm so glad they finally got to meet! We were brave enough to go out to lunch with the babies, and had quite an exciting time! This is a little video of Toby and Jeffy in their booster seats. It cuts off early, since the memory on the camera runs out and it switches to card memory. Once I get the card, hopefully I can get the rest of it! :)

My Baby Can Crawl!

Yay for Jeffy! He's getting it!

After the first minute, he gets frustrated and wants Daddy to pick him up!

10 of My Favorite Things

Favorites are hard for me. But, since Hilary tagged me (first time, wahoo!), I thought I'd give it a shot. Here we go.

1. Being Jeffy's Mommy
Yes, it's cliche', but it's true. I love being a mommy, specifcally to Jeffy. He's gotten attached lately and it's so cute. I can tell that he loves me and his daddy and that's the best feeling in the world. When he smiles, laughs, does something new, I just get this overwhelming feeling of love and awe. It's the best.

2. Reading
I love to read. I'll read just about anything, except horror and romance novels. I appreciate good writing just as much as a good story. Maybe someday I'll try my hand at writing, but for now, I just enjoy others' efforts.

3. Paper and Wood Crafts
I love scrapbooking paper, but not necessarily scrapbooking. Sometimes the amount of work (and money) that goes into displaying one picture seems kind of overdone to me. But, I've been introduced to digital scrapbooking, which seems pretty cool. I love making other stuff with paper-- announcements, invitations, cards, journals, and things like that. I also love wood crafts--pictures, boxes, frames, etc.

4. Yummy Food
This could be its own category. I love the usuals, like ice cream, but I also love meat. My favorite pizza is meat lovers. When I have a craving, it's for a burger or something, rather than something sweet. Yum, I just love food!

5. Dusk in the West
One of the best things about living in the west is the sunsets. I absolutely love them. Right when the sun is getting close to setting, I love going outside and just . . . being. I love sitting outside and pondering, dreaming, and imagining all kinds of things during dusk. It's super relaxing.

6. Boxes
I collect boxes. My favorites are pretty wooden ones. I prefer them to be bare inside, not meant for jewelry or anything. I have a few favorite ones. My mother-in-law gave me a beautiful wooden square one for my wedding, and I have another beautiful one from somewhere. I like taking old boxes and re-doing them to make them pretty.

7. Music
I come from a musical family, and the love of music is in my blood. There is nothing that can calm the soul or motivate the spirit like music. I love playing it and I love listening to it.

8. Being Productive
I feel best when I've accomplished something. Even if it's as mundane as getting the laundry done. Of course, it may take a litle while to get motivated enough to start! :)

9. Sisters
I have six sisters and I love it. I'm the oldest, and as each comes out to college, I get to be closer to them and love their company. I'm so glad to have three so close to me now and I hope we get to hang out a lot. (I like my brothers too, just for the record.)

10. Generally Pretty Things
I like pretty, feminine things. Someday when I have a house of my own, I hope to fill it with pretty things. I'm not a fan of super sleek modern things. I prefer old-style feminine pretty.

Seven Months Old!

Jeffy is seven months old today! I'm amazed at how quickly time has flown by. Just a few months ago, he was a small little baby, and now he's a big boy, almost crawling, sitting up, eating normal food and everything. He's closer to one than he is to zero!

I'm going to miss my little baby!

Jeffy and Clara

Clara saw Jeffy and just went and sat down right by him. So cute.

Jeffy was happy to see her.

Maybe a little too happy! :)

Here they are sharing a toy.

And here is the difference: Clara can get up and walk around. Jeffy can't.

And here is when Jeffy lost it. He just couldn't handle Clara's "loves." Look closely at that face-- that is one terrified baby!

Here's the next day, when Jeffy felt safe enough to be friends again.

Isn't she cute? Anytime she sits on the floor, she crosses her ankles. What a little lady!

Cousins

Jeff's sister, Emily, and her family came down to Utah for a wedding this weekend, so Jeffy got to play with his only cousin. Clara is 14 months old and really cute. At first they got along great. Clara came to sat by him and was very patient while Jeffy tried to figure out what was going on. He's not extremely coordinated yet, being only almost 7 months old, so Clara got a few scratches. But they were getting along great! Until . . . .

Clara gives "love" by resting her head on someone. It's super cute, but Jeffy didn't think so. She sat close by him and laid her head on his head, and he just lost it. I got a picture at the exact right moment. I have never seen him make that face or that sound before. He was absolutely petrified!! He wouldn't go remotely close to her the rest of the evening. By the next morning they were friends again. We got lots of cute pictures of the two of them together, but I have to wait to upload those until I can find the card reader. For now, here's a video.

They're 7 months apart and almost the same size. They weigh almost the same, too. But she can walk, and he's still working on crawling. It's funny because Clara would look at Jeffy and it seemed like she was thinking "Hey, what's the matter with this kid? Why can't he walk like me?" And Jeffy was thinking "Wait a minute, she's the same size as I am, but she can walk. What's going on?" It was kinda funny.

On a different note, Jeffy is getting REALLY close to crawling! He's been sleeping in a play pen thing, and has discovered he can push himself onto his toes by using the side. So now he does that all the time, and doesn't need a wall to push off of. He gets up on his hands and toes and kinda shakes his belly up and down. It's cute. He's also spending a lot of time on his knees, rocking back and forth. It's so cute! He's getting really close. Yay Jeffy!
