Worries

My hair is falling out . . . fast. I made an appointment with my regular doctor to get bloodwork done, but they couldn't fit me in until the 25th. After the amount of hair I lost in the shower tonight, I don't think that's soon enough. I'll be totally bald by then.

I think I'm going to call and try to get in as soon as possible.

I'm worried.

Anyone have a similar experience/advice?

I don't want to go bald.

After I have had each of my kids I have lost tons of hair. Not as much to make me worried but it could be a side effect. It usually happens from like 2-6 months after the baby is born. It is weird and I always just thought of it as a side effect. Let me know what you find out though. Sorry I am not much help.

Yes. This happened to me too. I read all about it. Apparently, sometimes when you're pregnant, your hair decides to not fall out (at a usual, normal rate) at all. And then when the baby is born, the hormone change prompts all that hair that should have fallen out for 9 months falls out all at once. Nothing to worry about... once your hair has caught up with itself, it should stop.

Bethany,

A couple years ago I spent a week in the hospital. I had been running a 104 degree fever for a week previous, and the doctors had no clue what was wrong. One evening, about halfway through my hospital stay, a doctor told me that there were four possibilities: (1) I had a pulmonary embolism, (2) I had a malignancy, (3) I had (forgot -- something else life-threatening, and (4) a virus no one had seen around here before.

Each of these possibilities was terrifying. (1) - (3) were life-threatening. I spent the longest night of my life praying for help.

In the end, it turned out to be a very common virus called CMV. Most people have it; I just reacted to it very badly.

I relate this story just to make a point: even if your symptoms are things completely outside your experience, you almost always turn out to be okay -- especially at your age. Don't worry too much.

Besides, all my hair fell out a long time ago and I'm still around...

I had that problem after having Gracie... do you have dry skin? Hair Loss? Weight gain (like abnormal)?

Could be your thyroid... that's what it was with me and once I got on my tiny pill, it all stopped. Hope that helps!

I have always lost tons of hair, and I still am. It has to do with breastfeeding. Or at least that is what I have been told.
