To breastfeed or not to breastfeed, that is the question.  Lately I've been wanting to quit breastfeeding and go all bottle.  It just takes so much time!  I feel like it would be a lot easier and faster to feed him with a bottle.  His tummy would get fuller faster and he might sleep better.  We could establish a regular routine and stick with it.  And I would have more time to do other kid stuff.

But even as I write this, I know I won't.  Just a dumb wish for more time, I guess.

On a different note, today went much better.  My big project for the day was taking the kids to the splash park.  That was a lot more fun. :)

Don't give up on the breastfeeding!!!! You're right, it is a lot more time consuming, takes a little more dedication, can be exhausting and tedious. . . BUT, health benefits for your baby aside (and they are numerous, even the formula companies have to admit nothing compares to breastmilk)

here's some reasons to stick to it:

- it releases hormones in your body that help you heal, lose baby weight, connect with your baby, and feel happy
- it's free and always available
- it's clean and doesn't spoil or expire
- it's always a productive use of time
- you always have it with you
- less baby spit up
- formula is stinky, and makes stinkier baby poop
-it forces you every 2-3 hours to sit down and rest, which you really should be doing!
- a nursing mama is a sexy mama

Those are just the practical reasons. The health reasons of course are the most important. You can do it mom! You'll never look back and think, "you know, I wish I hadn't nursed my babies as long!"

It's ok for your other kids to take a step back, or miss a few activities so mom can nurse. It's good for them to see that as a priority. One of my best friends, who's 3rd baby just turned one, said to me when she was a newborn, "not much is going to happen this year, because I'm nursing my baby, and there's nothing more important than that!"

I felt so much better hearing her say that. She's right! Her husband also deployed for 6 months of that year, so she really had no help, but she still had such a great attitude. To her it was a productive day if all she got done was feeding the baby and making meals for everyone else. Housework, visits to the park, anything else you squeeze into your day, is just a bonus.

So it's chaotic and not always perfect! It's ok, that sweet baby is perfect, thanks to you! The rest all comes second to that. You're doing a good job! Keep it up, and pat yourself on the back while you're at it!

I wandered over to your blog to see if there were any pics of the baby and was happy to see that you are posting everyday. I think that is great and am looking forward to knowing you better!

I think breastfeeding is one of the hardest things I have ever done and I had the same thoughs about quiting several times before Alexander was 4 months old. I was constantly telling Dan that if I just didn't have to breastfeed, being a first time mom would be a whole lot easier.

You are right on all your points, it will be easier and he will be more full and sleep longer, but I think none of that can compare to the quality of time and milk you provide by breastfeeding.

Just look forward to when he eats less often :)
